Anterix is helping modernize critical infrastructure

pdvWireless is now Anterix and we’re architecting a new foundation for critical infrastructure

Anterix stems from the Latin word for architectural elements that provide strength and foundational support.

New name. New mission.

As the new name suggests, Anterix is building the foundation for a new technology landscape. Our mission is to deliver the transformative broadband needed to enable the modernization of critical infrastructure for energy, transportation, logistics and other industries.

As the nation’s largest holder of licensed and contiguous 900MHz spectrum in the United States, we are uniquely positioned to deliver solutions that support secure, resilient and customer-controlled operations.

The real game-changers.

The real foundation for our success goes far beyond our technology, patents, or even broadband resources. At Anterix, we believe our people are the real game-changers. As architects of a new vision that sees digital transformation paving the way for critical infrastructure modernization, we know that our thought leaders will be the ones innovating and driving change—real change. We are doers, thinkers, movers and shakers, and going forward, a voice to be reckoned with.

We will combine our deep industry expertise and operational know-how to deliver solutions that will redefine what’s possible for the industries and utilities we serve. We will deliver at the highest level and build on the pioneering legacy and success that pdvWireless brought to workforce communications.

A legacy of innovation

The people that brought you Nextel Communications and pdvWireless, now bring you the future of digital transformation. Anterix was originally founded as pdvWireless in 2004 and is led by Chairman, Brian McAuley, and CEO, Morgan O'Brien, also co-founders of Nextel Communications. They have over 60 years of combined experience in telecom operations and in successfully developing regulatory driven spectrum initiatives to address the unmet wireless communications needs of businesses.

In September 2014 pdvWireless acquired Sprint Corporation’s 900 MHz spectrum, which had been used to operate Nextel’s iDEN network. With this purchase, pdvWireless became the largest holder of licensed and contiguous 900MHz spectrum which provides the optimal balance of capacity and coverage for wide area deployments and licensed Private LTE networks.

Anterix has been advocating the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to modernize and realign a portion of the 900 MHz band to increase its usability, capacity and accommodate the future deployment of broadband technologies and services. On March 14, 2019 the FCC adopted a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking for the 900 MHz band that endorses Anterix’s objective of creating a broadband opportunity for utilities and other enterprise users. Anterix intends to work collaboratively with the FCC and all affected parties toward adoption of final rules that enable Anterix to deliver transformative broadband that supports the modernization of critical infrastructure for energy, transportation, logistics and others.

Foundation. Support. Strength.
